{"id":188,"date":"2025-03-30T19:22:45","date_gmt":"2025-03-30T19:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geminlight.art\/?page_id=188"},"modified":"2025-03-30T19:23:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T19:23:26","slug":"the-mythes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/geminlight.art\/index.php\/the-mythes\/","title":{"rendered":"The Mythes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I don\u2019t know exactly when this collection of paintings began, but I know it will continue to evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it started with books:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/\">Neil Gaiman\u2019s works<\/a><\/strong>, where storytelling feels like a journey, drawing you in and making you feel there is magic in this world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmorrison.com\/our-story\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.grantmorrison.com\/our-story\">Grant Morrison\u2019s transformative storytelling<\/a><\/strong>, which challenges perception and reshapes the way you think.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Alejandro-Jodorowsky\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Alejandro-Jodorowsky\">Alejandro Jodorowsky\u2019s unique way of reshaping myths<\/a><\/strong>, blending symbolism, mysticism, and personal vision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Or perhaps it was <strong>Chrono Trigger<\/strong>, a game where puzzles unfold through time, requiring abstract thought and a higher force driving the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever the spark was, it awakened something in me\u2014a deep DIY urge to craft my own stories, my own heroes, beyond the narratives shaped by mainstream media. I wanted to create something meaningful, something that offers perspective through the shared human experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Creation Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This collection was born from my daily commute, where music and meditation guided me into a creative flow. I started sketching on my tablet using Krita, and what began as simple doodles grew into something unexpected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photography became the foundation of my process\u2014capturing images of nature, particularly moments when light reflects off surfaces in ways that resonate with me. When I look at these moments, I lose my sense of time; all that remains is a pure, immersive feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By mirroring these photos, hidden faces emerged from the patterns. I followed their shapes, developing them into entities, spirits, and ancient gods\u2014each one an opportunity to experiment with new techniques, from brushes to glitch effects, ensuring that every piece remained unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mythology and Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As each artwork neared completion, I turned to mythology. From Norse sagas to African folklore and echoes of books I\u2019ve read, I searched for connections between my art and the myths of different cultures. Each piece carries a personal mythology, woven from universal stories, symbols, and the creative essence that drives me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Fusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This process gives every artwork a new origin\u2014a fusion of ancient myths, hidden reflections, and personal storytelling, all shaped by the spirit of DIY exploration. Each piece invites the viewer to see beyond the surface, to find their own meaning within the layers of light, shadow, and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this blog post, I share the mythology of the entities in my digital paintings.
